The Climate: A 50 Year Battle

It's June 1972. For the first time in history, the UN patently sets forth the risks human activities pose to the climate. And so begin five decades of struggle - scientific and political battles between the proponents and detractors of the debate. This documentary recounts the events, tensions, twists and turns that have contributed to raising global awareness about climate change.

Denisova Unveiled

During excavations in Siberia in 2008, a team of archaeologists uncovered what looked like a small human bone. But genetic tests carried out on the specimen revealed something very surprising: the bone did, indeed, belong to a prehistoric individual. But it was not a Homo Sapiens, or even a Neanderthal. It belonged to a third human species that had never been seen before. The scientists named it “Denisova” after the cave in which the bone was found. Denisova Unveiled follows the scientific expeditions as they travel from Europe to Tibet, then on to Papua New Guinea, in search of the puzzle pieces that will allow them to answer the question: who were the Denisovans?

From WWI to 9/11, this docuseries looks back over the century that was a stage to world wars and totalitarianism.
But on the upside, it also marked the end of colonialism and the fight for sexual equality. MBZ, The Hidden Face of the UAE

The United Arab Emirates go to great lengths to portray a picture postcard image of their country to the rest of the world and present themselves as advocates of political freedom.
But one man is pulling the strings in the wings: the president of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed, aka MBZ. Enjoying massive financial power thanks to extensive fossil fuel resources, MBZ has amassed considerable influence in this part of the world: in Yemen, Libya and Syria, there’s barely a single war that doesn’t bear his stamp to some degree. Although he’s appreciated in the West for his anti-Islamic positioning and open economic policies, MBZ is nevertheless the head of an oppressive, authoritarian regime.
This documentary explores all the complexities of UAE politics by studying the figure who has become the Middle East’s new strongman.

Genre: Current Affairs and Society. Format: 1x52'/1x70'. Directed by Miyuki Droz Aramaki. Producer: Brainworks. French Broadcaster:  France 5.
