France tv distribution is pleased to announce the launch of new programs at the upcoming MIPDoc and MIPTV 2021, from April 12th to 15th, for a 100% digital event.

DRAMA

GIRLSQUAD

The 3.0 thriller series (10x22'), produced by Kelija Productions (Kabo Productions) is a teen drama, a resolutely "feminine product", firmly rooted in post #metoo. Fourteen-year-old Anaïs leaves the beach party suddenly, without warning. The next day, she's found by the roadside, fighting for her life. Meanwhile, a drowning girl is recued by the group of friends that go by the name of "Girlsquad" and is taken to their HQ, aka "The Doll's House". The sudden arrival of this mysterious young woman, Billie, on the very morning after Anaïs' accident seems suspicious not only to the Girlsquad members but also to the local Atlantic surfer star Dimitri, and Max (Anaïs' two older brothers). It's a daunting start to the summer for this group of inseparable girl friends. But their strength will continue to be put to the test as advertities, revelations and conflicts roll out in the wake of Billie's arrival in their lives. In the end, only their sisterhood can save them.

HAPPY TRIBES!

New families, new problems… so much more fun for the series (17x26'+7x32') produced by Elephant Story and broadcasted on France 2. No matter the nature of the families – traditional, same-sex parents or blended – there’s never a dull moment for these tribes as they go about their surprise-riddled daily lives! Welcome to the world of the overwhelmed parents grappling with the generation gap, the rebelling teenagers, and the squabbling kids: each sketch portrays very relatable scenes from family life in an upbeat, humorous way.

CRIMINAL GAMES - The '70s

After the 30's and the 60's, driven by their fiery-tempered detective trio, the storylines of Criminal Games (4x90'), produced by Escazal Films and broadcasted on France 2, set on a Seventies pop culture backdrop, are just as gripping as ever! Marking a first, the French government decides to conduct an experiment in 1972, giving a woman the job of police chief. Enter Annie Gréco. Juggling between holster and purse, this working-class woman is not easily fazed! In fact, she decides to team up with the PD’s most hot-headed officer, Max Beretta, a trigger-happy walking time bomb. At Gréco’s request, his typical Seventies dominant macho behavior lands him on the couch of the very smart shrink Rose Bellecour. Beneath her chic, daddy’s girl fashionista exterior, this woman turns out to be an exceptional investigator with a passion for crimes and criminals.

FRANCE, A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME

The documentary (2x45'/1x90'/1x52'), produced by Les Bons Clients, lets us travel back in time. Imagine Notre Dame de Paris encircled by a mysterious tropical mangrove swamp; the Loire valley rising from a forgotten lagoon; Mont Saint Michel looming over a smoking volcanic plain. This spectacular production shows how firmly the wonders of modern France are rooted in its fabulous past. None of the marvels that make the country famous today could have existed without those primal origins.

LADY SAPIENS

Who were the women of Prehistory? What role did they play in their societies and families? Accompanied by scientists, Lady Sapiens (1x52'/1x90'/2x45') produced by Little Big Story and broadcasted on France 5, sets off on the trail of Prehistoric women and examines the latest discoveries in the area. Lady Sapiens comments on the sometimes conflictual discussions between researchers, which reflect an evolving scientific field that constantly questions the facts. For the first time, Lady Sapiens can tell her own story.

APOCALYPSE, HITLER TAKES ON THE EAST 1941-1943

Divided into two parts (2x52'), the film, produced by CC&C and Mediawan, broadcasted on France 2, revisits June 22, 1941: Hitler launches a surprise attack on the then USSR in an operation code-named "Barbarossa". In the months that follow, the Nazi army manages to wipe out swaths of Red Army troops. But gets stopped outside Moscow, driven out of Leningrad and defeated at Stalingrad. Two years after declaring war, Hitler orders a decisive battle to take place in Kursk. Armed with artillery from their allies and with foreign units fighting by their side, the Soviets gain an advantage over the invading Germans. Hitler orders his troops to retreat, marking a turning point in World War II: he never manages to come back from this loss.
